Iloilo, one of the highlights of the Panay island because of its first class and highly urbanized city is known as the Philippines' City of Love. Aside from having kind and accommodating people, Iloilo city is also known for having tourist spot destinations and delicious food that are very affordable.
It is very apparent that Iloilo City right now is booming because of the wonderful time and effort that the city government has invested and is also because of different establishments that have been built in the last few years. Not only that, there are more investors that are interested in investing their money and resources because they envision that Iloilo will be the next business hub in the Philippines.
There are beautiful sceneries in Iloilo even outside the city. Here are some of them.:
ISLAS DE GIGANTES
The Islas de Gigantes or the islands of giants, is a remote group of islands located off the coast of Carles and Estancia towns in northeastern Iloilo. It takes at least 5 hours to get there from Iloilo City. The islands are blessed with pristine white sand beaches, bountiful fresh seafood, and jagged rock formations shrouded by mystical tales of locals. In spite of tourists that are coming from time to time, the island managed to retain its charm and remained undeveloped. It has different islands that will surely amaze you. The Cabugao Gamay Island, Tangke, Antonia Beach, Bantigue Island, and Pawikan Cave.
This is called the Cabugao Gamay Island. |
SICOGON ISLAND
Sicogon Island is one of the many beautiful attractions that grace the waters of Northern Iloilo which is part of the municipality of Carles, Iloilo. It is named after cogon, a type of grass found in abundance on the island.
MIAGAO CHURCH
The Church of Saint Thomas of Villanova, commonly known as the Miagao Church, is the Roman Catholic parish church of the town of Miagao in Iloilo Province. Completed in 1797, the church is famous for the artistic sculptural relief carved on its facade. In 1993, the church was designated as one best examples of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines and included in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Surely, every Ilonggo will feel blessed because of these beautiful sceneries that the Creator gave them. But there is no such thing that can ever make an Ilonggo prouder than having beautiful places and views within the city such as:
ILOILO RIVER ESPLANADE
Iloilo River Esplanade is an esplanade along Iloilo river in Mandurriao, Iloilo City that was opened on August 18, 2012 It stretches 1.2 Kilometers from Diversion Road (officially Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue) to Carpenter Bridge. It has a nice view especially at night when all the lights are on. You can feel the breeze of an air in your face and you can relax from the stress that life gives you.
This is how esplanade looks like at night :) |
SMALLVILLE
The term “Smallville” is a short term for Small Village which and is referred to the complex of restaurants, bars, and clubs beside Iloilo Business Hotel. Smallville Complex is Iloilo’s nightlife capital and a popular dining and entertainment hub where Ilonggos and visitors go to eat, drink, and spend a fun night out in the city. It is located along Diversion Road in Mandurriao District, Iloilo City. A footwalk connects Smallville to the Iloilo River Esplanade to the south.
This is the Smallville 21. It is a hotel inside Smallville. PLAZUELA DE ILOILO |
For those of you who are looking for an alternative to Smallville Complex without the loud music from different bars and clubs, Plazuela de Iloilo is the place to go. Since its opening in November 2010, Plazuela de Iloilo has been one of the favorite destinations of Ilonggos for dining and recreation. The unique two-storey Spanish-Italian design of the strip has certainly attracted Ilonggos and tourists alike. Located along Diversion Road in Iloilo City, it is home to different restaurants and specialty boutiques.
This is just a glimpse of Plazuela. But it has lots of restaurants actually. Haha. |
ATRIA
It is located near Ateneo de Iloilo campus and Qualimed Hospital along Donato Pison Avenue in San Rafael, Mandurriao District. Visitors can get to The Shops at Atria via Diversion Road or R. Mapa St. in Tabucan, Mandurriao.
They have lots of restaurants and different establishments at the same time :) |
JARO CATHEDRAL
The first cathedral in Panay built in 1864, Jaro Cathedral and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles, is one of the oldest churches in Iloilo. It became a tourist destination because of its cool and awesome structure and design.
Lastly, the Iloilo Business Park which will really captivate everyone’s heart because of its convenience and luxury condominiums. Everybody is looking forward for this because it is believed that Iloilo Business Park will really change the lifestyle of the people who lives in their units. It is like an all in one place wherein they have their live, work, play and learn concept. This 72-hectare township is envisioned to be the next central business district in Iloilo City. Soon Iloilo Business Park will see the rise of luxury residential condominiums, state-of-the-art BPO office towers which will give thousands of jobs to Ilonggos, a Megaworld Lifestyle Mall, a boutique hotel and commercial district, the 1.1-kilometer Festive Walk commercial and retail strip, open parks, transport hub, and the much-anticipated Iloilo Convention Center which is now operating, among others.
